The Dhammacari Vipassana Center is situated in Sonnenthal near Allgramsdorf/Rottenburg on Laaber. It is embedded in the hilly countryside of Lower Bavaria, Germany. This quiet spot offers ideal conditions for meditation. At the suggestion of Venerable Phra Prom Mongkol Vi (Phra Ajarn Tong Sirimangalo), the Dhammacari Vipassana Meditation Center Association was founded in September 2004 with the mission to establish a meditation center in Germany. The center was opened in February 2006 in Sonnenthal (near Munich). Hildegard Huber has resided there ever since.
Hildegard Huber has been a student of Venerable Phra Ajarn Tong Sirimangalo since 1992. In 1998 he authorised her as Vipassana teacher and gave her the name Dhammacari. 2004 she gave up her worldly professional life completely.
Through her own long term extensive meditation practice, she can pass on the acquired knowledge and the realization of the teaching in an understandable way. Her kind nature allows her to guide her students in an empathetic manner through their practice.
Dhammanikhom center headed by the Buddhist nun Bhikkhuni Silavaddhani has been named by Most Venerable Phra Prom Mongkol Vi (Venerable Phra Ajarn Tong Sirimangalo) as Dhammanikhom Vipassanā-Meditationszentrum.
Dhammanikhom describes a community of persons, who come together to live and practice the Dhamma together. It can be translated as a Dhamma community.
Dhamma is the Teaching of the Buddha.
Nikhom (= Thai) or Nigama (= Pali) means community, settlement, also meeting place, market or small town. At Most Venerable Phra Prom Mongkol Vi´s (Venerable Phra Ajarn Tong Sirimangalo) suggestion and with his blessings, the Buddhist teaching and the Vipassanā meditation (insight- or mindfulness meditation) is taught and promoted. Furthermore it is a place where nuns or postulants can practice Vipassanā meditation and tread the monastic Path.
